Mom has pretty much recovered from the strong medicine for vomiting. Last night, she woke me up for something almost every 30 minutes or less. So I am exhausted. She is more clear on what is going on. But at the same time, her vomiting problem might also come back. We try not to give her the same strong medicine for vomiting, but we have to see if other medicine can control the vomiting.
We are looking for helpers from the hospice service since we are getting very tight on the caring resources for mom. We will see how things will turn out.

While we thought mom is about to leave us in the last few days, she is waking up some after we stopped the strong medicine for vomiting. It seems her condition is back to the same level as about a week ago. Her lung is still clear, her heart rate stays the same. We can have a better interaction with her today, even she is still very weak and sleeps most of time though.
I finalized the funeral service and the cemetery arrangement last week. we are also preparing ourselves emotionally for the moment to come. However we don't really know how this process will turn out. I only know everything is in His hands. He will lead us through this.

Mom's condition suddenly got worse today. She vomited a lot and becomes even weaker. She has been sleeping almost all the time and cannot clearly express herself due to the weakness even we think her mind is still clear. We can only use more medicine to control those symptoms to keep her comfort, and just wait.
I have to finalize the arrangement for the funeral service and cemetery soon.
These last 4 months are really like a dream. I can almost still remember all the tests and hospital stays I went through with mom - almost all the details can flash through my mind while most of them are unthinkable! At the same time, I can also remember clearly those days - not too long ago, when mom was cooking good stuffs for us, caring her plants in the house, going places with us, and even answering phone when I called home. My 17-month of unemployment time becomes so precious now, since I was able to spend more time with mom at home during that period of time.

Mom's nurse did the twice a week check up on her today. Mom's condition is pretty much the same as when the nurse last saw her. Heart is good and lung is clear. She has even less or no swollen on her feet and has decent amount of urine - means her kidney is still function well. Again, she is still pain free. Mom is very clear minded and is also strong will on certain things. So the nurse's assessment on mom is - mom might be in this condition for a while. This also means her care givers will have a different strategy in caring her around our working schedule.
Mom has not had any true nutrition for almost two weeks, so she is even skinnier. That makes her very weak. Other than that, she seems to be more stable comparing her up and down condition in the last 3-4 weeks when she went in and out of the hospital. Today she even came down of her bed and sat for about 10 minutes - of course with our help. All the medical treatment she had in the last three months helped her some but also caused some problems for her too. Now when no treatment is given to her, her condition seems to become better with some basic care. Isn't that strange? I know He is working.
God has provided us with great support from our family members, friends, and fellow believers. E-mails, phone calls, personal visits from far and close, prayers, encouragement, baby sitting Hope, and all kind of food are really keeping us going in this journey without losing faith and hope. We will never be able to pay back everything we received or thank everyone who supported us. On behalf of mom and the whole family, I want to thank you all. Praise the Lord!

Mom is still weak but stable, and very clear minded. Our care for her will need some good planning since it will start to affect our working schedule.
A close and long time friend of our family flew in from Taiwan to visit mom last night. She flew right back this morning. We are very grateful to have this kind of care for mom.

Many friends/fellow believers want to visit mom - even is flying from Taiwan now to visit her just for a couple days. While we want to limit the number of people visiting mom due to her condition, we also know it is very hard to turn some people's request for visiting her away. Mom always felt she is a 'useless' Christian for not being able do much in 'serving' in church/fellowship group or sharing Gospel to non-believers. But seeing so many people from different places wanting to visit her, I know mom's life did touch many people for the Lord through her unique way. She is definitely not a 'useless' Christian as she thought.
Hope is three years old today. We gave her a little bit celebration with an ice cream cake. With sore throat, she is allowed to eat more ice cream than she is usually allowed to. Happy Birthday Hope!

Mom's condition is stable but getting weaker - probably slower than what doctors expected. Her heart and lung are still good. Her legs are not swollen much. She has some discomfort symptons. We just help her with the medicine provided. Mom's mind is still as clear as she can be. Some times we even felt her condition is improving - without having any treatment.
The team work from all the family members continues. Sister and brother have pretty much moved into the house to help mom as well as Yunting and I. We are taking turn to take care of mom or get three meals ready for each other. It is really helpful in moment like this. I am thankful for that.
Tomorrow is Hope's three-year-old birthday. Due to the current situation, we are not going to give her a birthday party this year. Actually she is having a sore throat and a little bit of fever recently, so she has been kind of grumpy these several days. It has been a little bit over two years since we brought her back from Taiwan. For what the family has been going through during this period of time, this little girl is a good reminder to me that we do have Hope in Him.
