This was another exhausting weekend for mom and for us.
Mom's belly was extended due to fluid retained inside her body. A lot of IV was given to her the previous weekend in the hospital while her doctors were trying to correct her problem of losing sodium and potassium. But it also reached to a point, she could not took any more fluid by this past Friday. She also vomited a lot probably due to the pressure from those fluid in her belly. Her legs were also swollen.
We had to bring her back to Edward Hospital for emergency. Her condition was very bad at the time. Her kidney function was about to give up. So her doctors could not give her any medication to release fluid from her body.
It was so hard to watch mom in such a discomfort and not be able to do anything to help her. I cried - in front of mom in the hospital, and in front of Lord when I came home for a little bit break Saturday night.
God is still in control! Not too long after I went back to the hospital Saturday, mom started urinating - every 2~3 hours over night. Brother and I had to get up every 2~3 hours to call the nurses to help mom. It was quite exhausting, but I was so happy to see mom was able to urinate on her own normally.
This morning, a procedure was done at the hospital to drain the fluid from her belly via a needle. 6000 cc of fluid was drained from her belly in less than about 30 minutes. Her belly was almost flatten in front of my eyes. You can imagine about 13 pounds of weight were removed from mom's body. Mom received almost instant relief.
Since then, mom has recovered a lot emotionally and physically today.
What a weekend we have just gone through. Thanks Lord for carrying mom and us through this. We understand that her cancer is still there and is likely causing most of her recent problems. But we will just have to rely Him more in almost every step we take.
Mom doesn't want to go back to UC any more. We will talk with her doctors here at Edward Hospital to arrange the care for her.
Tonight, mom laughed in responding a joke from Yunting. This is the first time I see mom laughs in almost 3 months. How nice to see her laughs.
Thank you Lord!
